When You Walked Away (Paperback)
A poetry novel by a young author, Iris Bailey, discovering who she is and finding herself throughout her traumatic experience with love. Struggling to figure out who she is now that he is gone, she faces difficult challenges regarding her mental health that many people face in today's society. Written in first and second person, throughout the book she is referring to the boy she felt she couldn't live without. She experiences what it was like before, during, and after him, describing it as "Lost, Found, and Lost Again." This novel mainly focuses on how the protagonist processes her feelings and raises awareness to the unhealthy coping methods teens and adults are conflicted with today. She explains her views of the world as she grows older, and discovers what it truly means to let go. Unfortunately, it is easier said than done, and as she continues on this journey, she wonders what to do with the remaining memories he left behind.
