Carol McMichael Reese - A. Hays Town and the Architectural Image of Louisiana

Join us for a presentation and signing with Professor Carol McMichael Reese, author of A. Hays Town and the Architectural Image of Louisiana. She will appear in conversation with LouAnne Greenwald, Director of the Hilliard Art Museum, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Featuring color photography by Philip Gould and A. HaysTown’s own architectural drawings, the book traces the evolution of the architect’s career, including his work on the Historic American Building Survey, his award-winning Modernist designs, and his later houses that came to define Louisiana’s residential architecture. This work accompanied an exhibition that originated at the Hilliard Art Museum in 2018. (The Town exhibition has since traveled to other venues.)

Carol McMichael Reese has published numerous other works, including Paul Cret at Texas, an award-winning study of university planning and architectural representation, The Architect’s Sketchbook, a study of imaging techniques in contemporary architectural practice, and, as a co-author, Object, Image, Inquiry, a study of the working methods of art historians published by the Getty Information Institute. She has collaborated on projects related to architecture all over the world.
