Please join us for a Sunday afternoon reading & signing with Megan Braden-Perry (author) and Lyn Brantley Vicknair (illustrator) celebrating the launch of their very cute debut children's picture book, ALLEN THE ALLIGATOR COUNTS THROUGH NEW ORLEANS.

"One alligator named Allen, wearing a silver medallion, boarded the Elysian Fields bus. He greeted the driver, paid his fare and spotted his good pal Gus."

What follows is a day full of fun and adventure, from eating classic New Orleans cuisine to stopping bullies and touring a police station.

Megan Braden-Perry, formerly a journalist for | The Times-Picayune and Gambit, is a stay-at-home mom, freelance writer and photographer. She's a New Orleans native and proud product of McDonogh No. 39 Elementary, Lusher Middle, Ben Franklin High, McDonogh No. 35 High and Dillard University.

In addition to being a mom to baby Franklin, she's a cat mom to Ellington and a wife to Grant Capone. In her spare time, she enjoys maintaining her personal blog at


Lyn Vicknair is the Senior Graphic Designer for Gambit. While this is her first children's book, she is the illustrator of the WhoDat/WhoDon’t pages that run in the KIDS issues of Gambit.

Originally from Mississippi, Lyn has been living in New Orleans since 2007. She lives with her husband, Darrin, and their small menagerie of pets. She also has a blog, Lazy Lady (, and is currently working on a webcomic, The Misadventures of W.B. McGhee.
