Its March and the 3rd annual Bean Madness competition is on!
Bean Madness, a spoof on a college-basketball tournament, is organized by one of New Orleans's quirkiest Mardi Gras groups - The Krewe of Red Beans - to promote local businesses, local restaurants, and raise money for some wonderful local-non-profits New Orleanians will participate in tastings of red beans from 32 restaurants at 21 venues across the city.
Fill your own your bracket by March 19th and predict the restaurant or chef that has “The Best Red Beans!” All donations will go to one non-profit organization of your choice! With just a $5 donation, participants will choose winners from citywide events at businesses and nonprofit locations.
Come to Octavia Books for a blind taste and cast your vote on Sunday, March 24 from 1:00-3:00pm. We will have red beans and rice from two excellent restaurants. But, only one can advance to the "Sweet 6-bean." One thing is for sure - the best read beans are found in a bookstore!
And, we hope you will stay afterwards for Carol Pulitzer's MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED and LITTLE THEATER double book launch at 3:00pm
